PRIVACY
POLICY

Last updated: August 20, 2026. Plain-language explanation first, full detail below.

The short version. This site does not require an account, does not sell your data, and does not run its own tracking server. Its correction and contact forms hand off to your own email app rather than storing anything here. This site may show advertising (including Google AdSense) and/or affiliate links to help cover costs, and those third parties may use cookies as described below.

1. Who Runs This Site

Live Music Tokyo (“this site,” “we”) is an independently operated live-music venue guide. Contact details are on the Contact page.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly. The Suggest a Correction and Contact pages open a pre-filled email in your own mail application — whatever you type there is sent from your email account to ours, the same as any email. This site does not receive, store, or process that information itself; there is no database behind these forms.

Information collected automatically. This site does not currently run its own analytics. If analytics (such as Google Analytics) or advertising (such as Google AdSense) is enabled, standard technical data may be collected automatically by those third-party services, which can include your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and approximate location, generally through cookies or similar technologies. See Section 4 below.

3. Cookies

A cookie is a small text file stored on your device by your browser. This site's own code does not set any cookies. However, if this site displays advertising or uses analytics tools, those third-party providers may set cookies as described in Section 4. You can control or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings; blocking cookies may affect how some third-party content (like ads) displays, but will not prevent you from reading the guide itself.

4. Third-Party Advertising (Google AdSense)

This site may participate in the Google AdSense advertising program. If it does:

Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to visitors based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet. Google may also use these technologies to help measure and improve ad performance.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info (US) or www.youronlinechoices.eu (EU).

For more detail on how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

5. Affiliate Links

This site may include affiliate links (for example, to concert-going gear). If you click one and make a purchase, this site may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate relationships do not influence which venues are covered or how they're described.

6. Your Rights (APPI, GDPR & CCPA)

If you are in Japan, the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI / 個人情報保護法) applies. This site’s operator handles any personal information you provide directly (such as the contents of an email inquiry) in accordance with the APPI: it is used only to respond to your message or to act on a correction you submit, it is not provided to third parties except as required by law, and it is not used for any other purpose. You may request disclosure, correction, or deletion of personal information held about you at any time via the Contact page.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, UK, or Switzerland, you generally have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of personal data, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (including some advertising). If you are a California resident, you generally have the right to know what personal information is collected, request deletion, and opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA).

Because this site does not operate accounts or its own database, we hold very little personal data ourselves — most requests of this kind (for data collected via advertising or analytics cookies) should be directed to the relevant third party directly (see Section 4 for Google's opt-out tools). For anything you've sent us directly by email, contact us via the Contact page and we'll delete it on request.

7. Children's Privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated as the site adds features (such as enabling AdSense or analytics for the first time). The "last updated" date at the top will always reflect the latest version.

9. Contact

Questions about this policy can be sent via the Contact page.
