Crawdaddy Club has run in a Kabukicho basement since December 2003, opened by owner Mikiya Miyamoto around a personal love of Led Zeppelin and British rock more broadly. The room is built for sound as much as atmosphere — a JBL4344 system, Marshall amplification, and a Hammond organ with Leslie cabinet sit alongside a collection of roughly 3,000 CDs and 1,000 music videos.
Live sets run Friday and Saturday nights, with the band working through a mix of covers and original Japanese rock; the rest of the week it operates as a listening bar where you can request tracks from the shelves. Closed Mondays.
Reviewers consistently praise the staff as unusually warm and welcoming, with several repeat visitors specifically saying they keep coming back for the atmosphere as much as the music. One reviewer directly addresses the cover charge, arguing it's clearly worth it compared to equivalent shows abroad and encouraging visitors not to balk at it.
Live band nights reportedly sell out, and the acoustics get specific praise for how well they hold up in a small room.
